There was a person that recently posted a question in the community forum of our town.
The questions was:
Gabriele Fitness OR (another gym in our town) for training kids?
Well, let the slaughter begin.
The out pouring of people that commented on this post was immense.
I think the post had close to 60 comments, all in favor of my gym over the other. In fact, every single person that commented said things such as:
“No question… Gabriele Fitness”
“Hands down…. Gabriele Fitness”
“No Brainer… Gabriele Fitness”
“100%…. Gabriele Fitness”
I could go on but I don’t want to dance in the end zone too much.
Many of the people that commented I haven’t spoken to in years.
Some of them former members of ours.
Some of them were parents of kids we trained 8 years ago.
Some of the people never stepped foot into our gym and I had NO CLUE who they were.
It was almost as if they were protecting us.
Other gyms have better equipment than us.
They have more options and class times.
Almost ALL of them are a LOT cheaper.
Since we opened our doors in 2008, I estimate there have been over 50 gyms/fitness facilities open within a 5-mile radius.
I hear way too many gym owners talk about competition.
There is competition everywhere.
If you have none, it’s too bad, you’re probably not being tested.
If you sit around and talk about how many new gyms are opening in your area (I hear this a lot on the phone) your focusing on the wrong thing.
You cannot control another gym moving into your backyard.
There is a 50,000-square foot mega facility being built as we speak, literally 100 yards from us.
Lots of people are asking me if we’re scared.
My answer, “Why is this one different than the other 50 gyms that have moved into town?”
Only focus on what you can control.
Back to the slaughtering.
So, why were these people pretty much making it clear that we were hands down the better choice?
It’s ONE thing.
One thing that NOT ONE of our competitors can ever mimic.
They will never be able to copy the relationships we’ve built.
They’ll never be able to match the customer experience we provide, not ever.
They’ll never match the way we made people feel after doing business with us.
Get active in your community, do great work, care about people a ton and you’ll be around for a long time.
If you learn how market on top of this, that’s when you’ll dominate.
