We got a message from a disgruntled person that was not happy with our most recent re-activation campaign.
This person was on our list so they had opted into something over the last 12 years.
Here was the sequence we put together:
I’m guessing this persistence made this ONE person upset.
On the other side…
This exact campaign brought in 29 new clients from July 1-31.
The show up rate for these people to their consultation was 87%.
The close rate was 79%
The average sale was 3x our normal sale.
But let’s not worry about that small stuff.
Let’s talk about the person that said they were calling the better business bureau…on a local business…in the middle of a pandemic…because they offered them a 7-day free trial…
Let’s hang our head in shame and fear.
Let’s think about how we could have crafted the message differently so this person would not have been so upset.
Let’s be a little more careful next time.
Maybe we should have offered a 14-day trial.
Maybe we texted too many times.
Or maybe, just maybe we did it perfectly…
…and ran one of the most successful campaigns in the history of our company…in the middle of a pandemic….
…And we’re just focusing on the wrong thing.
The only thing we should be thinking is how the heck do we do this again…and we shouldn’t change a thing!
You can’t make everyone happy.
You’re going to make decisions and some people will love them.
Others will get pissed off.
It’s just human nature.
The problem is NOT the people that get pissed off.
The problem is us.
It’s what we focus on.
We are programmed to focus on the negative…on the drama.
It’s a recipe for failure and unhappiness to try to make everyone happy and to walk on eggshells.
You’re in the heart of a pandemic.
You’re a small business owner trying to survive.
The last thing on your mind should be that you might upset ONE person.
