I’ve been teaching the concept of the marketing glove for quite a while.
The marketing glove signifies that you have multiple ways to generate leads.
Not wearing your marketing glove puts you at risk that your money faucet gets shut off.
You’ll sleep better at night knowing you’ve got several irons in the fire that are driving people toward your gym.
But I’ve found something else that’ll help you sleep even deeper.
For years, I’ve run Facebook ads.
I’ve stopped using Facebook ads to cold traffic simply because it’s been abysmal.
I still use Facebook ads but ONLY for retargeting, meaning I use Facebook ads to continually stay in front of people on my email list.
There comes a lot of frustration with running Facebook ads.
Here are a few:
- You need to have very good creative i.e., images, video
- You need to be able to write good copy
- You have to make sure the targeting is right
- You have to make sure the copy is approved by the Facebook bots and the better the copy is, the less likelihood it gets approved
- You have to worry about people making stupid comments on your ads
- You have to pay someone to run the ads and then pay for ad spend
I could go on…
Well, the tech nerd barged into my virtual office a few months ago with some “NEW” idea.
He started talking crazily about this thing called SEO.
I said, Tech Nerd…
“I know you’re only 26 years old…but I was doing SEO when I opened my gym in 2007…that means you were barley hitting puberty while I was burning money with SEO…it doesn’t work…”
He then reminded me that when he was 13, he was building websites from scratch…touché.
He started talking Tech Nerd to me and I just said, “Ok! OK!…just do it”.
Well, I have to report, that once we started doing local SEO…in the last 3 months…we’ve SOLD more memberships directly through our website than we have in the last 12.
The SOLD part is the key.
It’s not just more traffic to the site.
It’s qualified people with intent to buy.
He showed me how it all works and I wanted to blow my brains out…
Gym owners like me just don’t want to get caught in the middle of the tech conundrum.
…But here’s the best part, as the gym owner…I don’t have to know how it works.
I don’t have to send him any creative, write copy, decide on targeting, or worry about Facebook suspending my account.
I just give the tech nerd money and he drives qualified people…With intent to buy…to my website.
It’s a beautiful thing that helps yours truly sleep like a rock.
