This winter in New Jersey we have gotten very little snow.

It’s cool for us to not have to deal with it but it’s very bad for the guys that rely on the snow to make money.

Can you imagine if the only thing the snow plow guy sold was snow removal?

A big snow winter could mean lots of money but a bad winter could leave them with nothing.

 This is why pretty much every snow plow guy does landscaping.

Landscaping starts in the Spring and all the way until November or December.

There is lots to do.

Cutting grass, building walkways, mulching, removing leaves.

Hell, I’m ashamed to say this but I hired my landscaper to put up our Christmas lights! I know, I know!

You may be thinking where the heck am I going with this.

There are many of you that train athletes and adults.

A lot of you focus primarily on athletes and leave the adults as an afterthought.

Only training athletes is like having a business that just does snow removal.

Landscaping is like training adults.

The landscaper can do very well even without doing snow removal, when he adds it, it’s lucrative.

Selecting your primary target market is pretty much the most important business decision you can make.

It’s not my place to tell you who you should train but I only speak to the goals that most of you tell me you want.

You want more money, more freedom, more stability, more consistency.

If these are things you want, selecting the right target that feeds your goals is an important decision.Training athletes is great and we still do it.  Only after making adults our main focus did our business rise to a new level.

Look at your gym from 6 AM- 10 AM and realize that in those hours alone you could start an entirely new business that potentially doubles, even triples what you have now.

I have helped many gyms realize this. Their accountants, spouses and bank accounts are the ones that thank me.
