4 Reasons Gyms Get Stuck at $300,000

According to an industry report, the average training gym earns about 300K per year. 

As mentioned, there is not a lot left for the owner. To create great success for you gym there are things you need to avoid.

In my several years coaching gym owners here are the things I have seen that gym owners do to get stuck at 300K.

1. Bad at Marketing: If you made the jump and became a gym owner you MUST understand and get good at marketing. You cannot farm this out. You have to own this and create a system that brings leads in on a consistent and predictable basis.

2. Inability to Stop Training so Many Sessions: Gym owners that try to play trainer and gym owner will get burnt out. As a trainer that’s logged well over 10,000 hours training people I know that it takes a toll on you. Trying to do it all on your own will lead to burnout and either failure or worse, a business that treads water for years.

3. Poor Profitability: Gyms that do not know their numbers will get into trouble as their business grows. In the beginning when it’s just you, you can get by. When you add things such as payroll, things can get hairy. The gyms that do not understand their numbers will not be in a position to breakthrough. Charging too little for sessions, selling packages of 1-1 and spending lots of money on things that do not generate revenue are all things that lead to poor profitability.

4. Too Complex: Many guys can never break through that 300K mark because they get too fancy. They make things too hard. They create these elaborate training systems that make it hard to bring on staff. They end up doing it all themselves.
