You’re NOT alone if you’ve got stress and anxiety right now.
I’ve said on several past email I have walked backwards everyday for 30+ minutes since May 29th.
It’s been a game changer for me on many levels.
I’ve not missed a day yet.
One of the things I do when I walk backward is to say out loud the things I’m grateful for.
This exercise, taught to me by the great, Matt Furey, literally put me in a state of euphoria.
I have practiced gratitude before but never to this extent of saying what I’m grateful for…out loud for 30 minutes.
As today is Thanksgiving, I thought this would be a timely exercise for you today.
You don’t have to walk backwards to do this.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Go sit in your car or office or walk backward like me, either is fine but the backward walking will work best
2. Set a timer for 30 minutes or whatever you can handle but 30 minutes was incredible
3. Say out loud or write down what your grateful for
Since doing this I’ve also been working with my kids to help them exercise gratitude.
I created a one page 5-minute gratitude journal that they fill out each night.
It asks them a series of questions and they have been more consistent with this than any other thing I’ve tried.
I still cannot get them to clean their room but they have filled out this journal for over 60 days in a row (Proud dad 🙂 ).
I vary the covers and give them new ones each month to keep it fresh and also give these as gifts to my friend’s kids.
In these crazy stressful times, it gets hard remember that you have a LOT going well in your life. This exercise put a ton in perspective for me and if it feels touchy feely for you please know… …There’s nothing touchy feely about peace of mind. In fact, your mind being calm and clear is your number one business asset right now. Give it a shot and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Thank you for trusting me… …I’m grateful to you for being on this email list. Vince Gabriele P.S. If you want me to send you the file for the one page gratitude journal I use with my kids…hit reply with YES and I will send to you tomorrow as Meg has the day off today! |
