I Always Say No to These People

A day does not go by that I don’t get a request from someone to be a guest on my Podcast. 

Many times, it’s from an agent but I get them from the actual person as well.

One podcast agent literally threatened me and said she was going to tell her entire network that I did not support other fellow colleagues on the industry (trembling).

Anyway, here’s where these guys go wrong. 

They say things like, “so and so will provide great value to your audience”.


So and so is an expert in their field and has been doing it for 3 years.

I literally get one of these a day, usually on IG but a lot through email.

They never think enough about what would get me to be like…this is no brainer, I’ll definitely have this person on my podcast. 

Well, recently I had someone from a business called Conscious Counsel reach out about having ME speak to their audience. 

They didn’t mention anything about me having their founder on my show or speaking to my Mastermind. 

They led with the value. 

As a coach/consultant public speaking for me is like oxygen. 

If the audience is right for me…I’m a guaranteed yes, especially when it’s virtual and I don’t have to travel. 

They mentioned they have a list of health and fitness professionals and they wanted me to prepare a webinar for them.

They also requested to speak to me on the phone to discuss details.

Before the call I checked out their website and it was extraordinary.

As someone that owns a company that builds websites for small businesses, it’s rare that I’m impressed. 

When on the call they talked only about me speaking for them. 

After they realized I was interested, they asked about their founder doing something for my Mastermind.

My response, “Of course”.

So, as you go through your time as a gym owner…and want to build relationships with other local businesses that could turn into joint ventures…. decide on approaching this in a way that has value for them…FIRST.

For instance, whenever I reach out to a local organization about partnering on something my subject line is always:

“New Sponsor or Sponsorship Opportunity or Inquiring About Sponsorships”

This shows a direct value to the organization because I’m walking in holding my checkbook and these organizations need money… I almost always get a response.

Lead with the intent to give value to others and the door opens wide open.
