The 1K Text Message Trick

My sales guy has been very busy.

So busy he had to take a personal day because of all the phone calls that came in from my latest marketing shenanigans.

That’s my new goal, create marketing campaigns so good it gives my sales guy a headache.

Here’s the scheme I hatched:

I had an existing relationship with a local Youth Sports Organization that we had not done anything within several years.

I texted the person in charge with this message:

Hey Dan!

I’d like to make a $1,000 donation in exchange for 2 emails to be sent to your list.

Do you think that’s fair?


His response, “More than fair. When do you want me to send them?”

We made our money back in the first hour after the first email and have seen a 5x return on our investment since the second with a boatload in the pipeline.

I posted the 2 emails into the member’s site of my Marketing Master Insiders Club.

Now, there is a lot happening here that I don’t have time to get into all of it. In fact, this entire concept could be a 2-day seminar.

Here’s the list of what’s going on, but I’m going to leave you with the one big takeaway:

  • The text was to a person that I had built a relationship for many years.
  • The list he was sending to was local to my gym and a very responsive list.
  • They were not used to getting promo emails from this group, just correspondence messages about their kids’ games and practices.
  • Because of this, we had no problem offering the 1K for the 2 emails.
  • We sent them from the email to the squeeze page that purposely left off almost all information about the program. There was no option to buy on the page, only opt-in.
  • We had a salesperson ready to field the leads immediately.
  • We drove them to a phone call and closed on the phone.

The One Big Takeaway:  If I don’t ask, this doesn’t happen.

There are lots of relationships you have right now.

Some of them you don’t even remember exist.

You’re just one question away from a big business move.
