During one of our weekly Mastermind group calls the topic of public speaking came up.
One of our members was asking me for tips about how I put my slides together and my process for building out presentations.
My answer to this tactical question was to think about the strategy first.
The most important aspect of public speaking is to know your audience.
You need to be sure you are clear who will be in the seats and that what you are going to deliver, matters to them.
Too many times we get caught up in how we’re going to do. This is really what gives people anxiety about speaking.
When you shift the focus to how the lives of your audience will improve from your talk instead of how you’ll do, that will make all the difference.
Once your clear on this, the best way to communicate with your audience is with story telling.
