I was at Disney World last weekend so this is fresh on my mind.
The concept of dignifying your business seems like a very good idea…
…they’re simply the best in the world at extracting the maximal amount of money from people and making them feel happy about it.
We should all take a page.
Disney essentially has grand opening-style events every day.
There are fireworks… every day.
There’s a parade… every day.
I often think about how this could be replicated at a gym.
I’m sure there’s a way.
But the end goal is revisiting this statement:
“You’ll never guess what happened”
Imagine a client saying that about your gym.
One of Disney’s main principles is creating wow experiences.
It’s common knowledge among the “cast members”
They do not strive to have satisfied customers.
They strive to delight them.
So this happens at Disney…A LOT.
Here’s how this makes you lots of money.
Wow experiences create long-term customers.
You’ll win in the business long term when you win the lifetime value game.
Delivering wow experiences on a regular basis accomplishes this.
Now I know what you’re thinking:
Wow experiences aren’t necessarily always huge deals.
- Handwritten cards
- Remember their name early
- Remember something they told you about their kids
- Small Welcome Gifts when they start
- Shock and awe boxes to get them in
- Birthday Videos or emails
- Give them something free randomly(T-shirt, water etc)
- Walk them to the restroom
Build this stuff into your systems and you’ve got something.
